Beckers Group receives SBTi net-zero approval and publishes 2024 Sustainability Report
Beckers Group today published its 2024 Sustainability Report and announced a major climate milestone: the official approval of its net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
The SBTi’s validation in March 2025 positions Beckers among the first companies in the coil coatings industry to have science-based net-zero targets formally approved. The newly published sustainability report highlights the company’s concrete progress in reducing carbon emissions, advancing product sustainability, and creating positive social impact.
SBTi approves Beckers Group’s net-zero targets
In March 2025, Beckers’ near- and long-term net-zero targets for 2050 were officially approved by SBTi, underscoring the company’s commitment to climate action and decarbonization in its own operations and the industry.
Beckers is targeting to achieve net-zero GHG emissions across the entire value chain by 2050. Significant milestones on the way to net-zero are the 2030 near-term targets to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 75% and Scope 3 emissions by 27.5% (both from a 2019 baseline).
“Building on the progress achieved in 2024, we are pleased that SBTi has approved our targets. This approval not only validates our direction but also reconfirms that our roadmap is grounded in science and aligned with the urgent need for climate action,” commented Beckers Chief Executive Officer, Christophe Sabas.
Nicklas Augustsson, Chief Sustainability Officer at Beckers, added: “Receiving SBTi approval is more than just a validation – it’s a call to action. We aim to lead by example and foster collaboration across the value chain to accelerate the shift toward a defossilized industry, with increased use of renewable carbon solutions.”
“What. We. Do.” in action: highlights from the 2024 Sustainability Report
The 2024 Sustainability Report outlines Beckers’ sustainability performance and progress towards its targets. A key milestone in this year’s report is the publication of Beckers’ complete carbon footprint for the first time, enhancing transparency and underscoring the need for collaboration with suppliers and customers to reduce emissions across the product lifecycle.

Here are some of the highlights:
What: Products with impact
Beckers made significant progress in improving the sustainability performance of its product portfolio. In 2024, 50% of sold products (up from 41% in 2023) were classified as Achiever, the highest rating on the Beckers Sustainability Index (BSI). This builds a solid ground for ultimately eliminating all Concern class products by 2030. The BSI is also fully embedded into the R&D process, guiding the development of more sustainable coatings from the earliest stages. The launch of the FutureLab in 2024 further accelerates this shift, particularly through advanced UV/EB technologies that help customers lower their carbon footprint.
We: People with impact
Progress toward a more inclusive workplace continued in 2024. Women now hold 30% of executive roles (up from 25% in 2023), and 28% of the overall workforce is female (up from 26%). These gains reflect sustained focus on diversity in hiring, awareness of gender pay gaps, and improvements to workplace conditions at production sites. In line with its commitment to fair and equitable treatment, Beckers also introduced a formal goal in 2024 to ensure living wages across all operations, with third-party monitoring in place to track progress.
Do: Operations with impact
As a result of steadily increasing renewable energy use, Beckers has made strong progress in reducing emissions and achieving its climate targets. In 2024, 66% of energy use came from renewable sources (an 8-point increase from 2023) and Scope 1 & 2 CO2 emissions have been reduced by 58% compared to the 2013 baseline. In the supply chain, third-party logistics emissions have decreased by 13% (intensity-based) since 2013. Beckers has also intensified collaborations with suppliers to accelerate the integration of HVO and the development of multimodal transport solutions in countries where available.
