First solar panels now live
300 solar panels save electricity costs and the environment
Shifting to renewable energy is an important part of our journey to sustainability. In August 2017, we completed the installation of 300 solar panels on the roof of our manufacturing building at our Malaysia site. The full capacity of the solar panel system is 100 kWp.
According to a report from the local electricity board (and based on our measurement for four months of 2017), the solar panels are saving about 10% from the total cost of our electricity. As a bonus, the installation also helps shade the warehouse from the sun’s heat.
This is a pilot project and represents a big step forward for how we manage our energy consumption across Beckers Group. This project complements our long-term vision for sustainable development and we see it as a major milestone on our journey.
